This privacy policy covers terrysbutchers.ie, its online shop and collection ordering service, and the official Terry’s Butchers iOS (iPhone) and Android apps. Shopping pages may be displayed within the mobile apps. The same policy applies to the data you give us there.
1. Who is responsible for your data?
Stackville Ltd T/A Terrys Butchers (trading as Terry’s Butchers) is the data controller for customer information processed through our shop, website, online orders and mobile apps. Our shop is at 4 Oakfield, Oakpark Road, Cloonalour, Tralee, Co. Kerry, V92 ND73, Ireland.
Privacy contact: Cormac Wallace, the independent developer at Forward Technology, handles privacy enquiries and data-rights requests on behalf of Stackville Ltd T/A Terrys Butchers. Email cwallace@forwardtechnology.ie, telephone(066) 712 6174, or write to the shop address above. Stackville Ltd remains responsible for how customer data is used and for responding to privacy requests.
2. What information do we collect?
Orders and collection
Your name, email address, telephone number, selected products and quantities, order prices, any offer code, chosen collection date and time, optional order notes and order status. Please avoid including sensitive personal information in order notes.
Payments
You enter your card information directly into Stripe’s secure checkout. Stripe processes those card details. We receive the information needed to manage an order, such as payment status, amount, transaction identifiers and refunds. We do not receive or store full payment-card numbers or security codes.
Service and security
Technical information needed to deliver and protect the website and apps, potentially including your IP address, browser and device details, request information, errors and security records. To reduce misuse, we temporarily rate-limit checkout attempts using hashed IP and email information.
Optional app notifications
Where notification features are available and you opt in, we and our notification providers process push tokens, subscription and app/device identifiers, notification choices, operating-system information, and delivery or interaction information related to those messages. On iPhone, a history of received or opened notifications may also be saved locally on your device.
Customer enquiries
We process the information you send us by email, phone or other contact methods to respond and, where necessary, keep a record of the enquiry.
You can browse without creating a customer account. Our shopping service does not need access to your contact list, camera, microphone or precise GPS location.
3. How and why we use your information
- Orders and payment: create an order, arrange collection, authorise and (on acceptance) capture payment, and send order confirmations or updates. Our lawful basis is performing a contract or taking steps you request before a contract.
- Legal obligations: keep records required for taxation, accounting and other applicable requirements. Our lawful basis is compliance with law.
- Security and service operation: prevent abuse, diagnose problems and maintain reliable ordering. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interests, balanced against your rights.
- Promotional push messages: send offers or shop news where you choose to receive notifications. Our lawful basis is your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- Customer support: answer questions and resolve order issues on the relevant contractual or legitimate-interest basis.
We do not sell customer information to data brokers. We do not use your order details for third-party targeted advertising in the service described by this policy.
4. Promotional notifications in the apps
Push notifications are optional and are not required to browse or place an order. Where available, promotional notifications are managed using OneSignal and the relevant Apple or Google push notification service.
On iPhone, you can stop receiving them from Updates → Turn off notifications or through iPhone Settings. If notifications are offered in the Android app, you can disable them through Android’s app notification settings (or any in-app control provided).
We use notification delivery and interaction statistics to measure the effectiveness of our messages and improve our communications.
On iPhone, received or opened updates may be stored on your device. Use Clear saved updatesin the Updates section to delete that local history. Disabling notifications stops promotional messages to that subscription but does not automatically remove historical records held by OneSignal. Contact us if you want help requesting deletion of related personal data.
5. Who we share data with
We use service providers where necessary to run the shop and its online services:
- Stripe handles payment authorisation, capture and refunds. Stripe privacy policy.
- Vercel hosts and delivers our website and processes associated technical requests.
- Neon provides database hosting for order and service records.
- Google/Gmail is used to deliver order-related emails.
- OneSignal, Apple and Google may process device and push-subscription information when optional notifications are used.
- Forward Technology / Cormac Wallace provides development and technical support for our website and apps and may access information as reasonably necessary to maintain or fix our systems or assist with privacy requests, acting on our instructions.
We may also disclose data where required by law. Some service providers may process information outside Ireland or the European Economic Area. Where applicable, such transfers must have a valid GDPR transfer mechanism, such as an adequacy decision or appropriate contractual safeguards. Contact us if you would like more information about transfers relevant to your data.
6. Cookies and local storage
The website uses essential browser storage to remember basket contents and help retry a checkout safely. The staff-only administration area uses a login session cookie. When shopping pages appear in the mobile apps, the website may use the same storage inside the app’s web browser component.
You can clear browsing data using your browser or device settings, but this may empty your basket or sign you out. Stripe’s hosted checkout also uses technology necessary to process payments and combat fraud. Our current website source does not include third-party advertising trackers; if we add non-essential tracking later, we will review and update the notices and consent controls as required.
7. How long we keep information
We retain information only for as long as needed to fulfil an order, respond to queries, manage security, handle disputes, and comply with tax, accounting and other legal duties. Some transaction and accounting records must be retained for six years under Irish record-keeping requirements, or longer where law or a relevant claim requires it.
Technical security records are retained as needed for their purpose. Basket data is kept on your device until it is cleared or replaced. Notification subscription data and related provider records are subject to our provider arrangements and applicable retention requirements. You may request deletion of personal data that is no longer necessary or legally required.
8. Your privacy rights and how to delete data
Under the GDPR, where applicable, you may have the right to access your data, correct it, have it erased, restrict processing, receive portable copies of relevant data or object to certain uses. You can withdraw consent for promotional notifications at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing.
Request deletion or a copy of your data: email cwallace@forwardtechnology.ie with the subject Privacy request, or contact the shop using the details below. If your request concerns an order, include its reference or the email address used. We may ask for reasonable identity verification. We normally respond within one month, unless a lawful extension applies. Records that must be kept for legal reasons may not be deleted immediately.
If your concern remains unresolved, you can complain to Ireland’s Data Protection Commission.
9. Children
Our online shop and apps are for general shopping, not directed at children. We do not knowingly seek children’s personal information for marketing. Please contact us if you believe a child has given us data without an appropriate basis.
10. Changes to this policy
We will update this page if our services, providers or privacy practices materially change. The date at the top shows when the policy was last updated.
